Market Street Catering

At MSD we offer an extensive catering menu with a number of ideal selections. Our full-time catering coordinator, Andrea Berns, is a classically trained chef with mastery in event management. She has experience catering events with a 1,200-guest list, but can also build more intimate menus for smaller hosted affairs.

“I love my job,” said Andrea. “I always tell people I throw parties for a living, so what’s not to like.”

Andrea has worked in the foodservice and hospitality industry since she was a teenager and has a passion for all things culinary. Her favorite MSD plate to recommend is beef tenderloin.

“Our chef makes a fantastic roasted beef tenderloin in a red wine demi,” said Andrea. “I love to serve it, especially at weddings, but themed meals with entrees that generally have something to do with the couples’ upbringing or lifestyle seem to be a hot trend right now. Recently, I created a southern style meal complete with fried chicken, brisket and corn bread for a young couple with roots in the south.”

For Brides and Grooms

Andrea advises brides and grooms to stay organized, ask a lot of questions and try to have an idea of wants and needs prior to meeting with vendors.

According to Andrea the average food cost for a wedding is around $2,500. If operating on a budget, Andrea suggests deciding what is most important and focusing dollars on that. For instance, if you know you want to serve a 5-tier cake than plan to put your money there first and allocate the rest of your food budget accordingly. She also highly recommends giving your prospective caterer a dollar amount and asking them to prepare a proposal based on that budget.
