Meet Chef Ron Dombroski

Chef Ron’s first job out of culinary school was as a cashier for a Portuguese bakery in the Merchandise Mart in Chicago. Eventually Ron learned how to prepare the bakery’s savory items and became a manager. He moved from the bakery to an Italian café where he stayed until an opportunity at Chicago’s famed Park Avenue Café presented itself. At Park Avenue Ron is proud to have worked under some of the restaurant industry’s best, such as Chef David Burke, Chef Richard Leach and Pastry Chef Dan Budd.

In 1997, Ron’s dad became ill and he moved to Madison to be closer to his parents. Here, Ron with his wife, Kara, and their kids Billy, Cacyee, and Madelyn, found a home. His classic culinary training, storied work history, and family inspire his work in the kitchen. He excels at turning an otherwise ordinary dish, such as macaroni and cheese, into something epicurean. At Market Street his favorite entrée to serve is chicken asiago, which Dombroski finishes with his crowd-pleasing cream sauce.

When Ron is not in the kitchen he is… “Spending time with family, landscaping the yard or watching football!”
